3. Data Storage and Security

Where Your Data is Stored

All user data is stored securely using Google Firebase services:

• Firebase Authentication: Manages user accounts and authentication
• Firebase Firestore: Stores chat markers, notes, reminders, and labels
• Chrome Storage API: Local browser storage for quick access and offline functionality

Security Measures

• All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/SSL
• Firebase Security Rules restrict data access to authenticated users only
• Users can only access their own data
• Authentication tokens are securely managed by Firebase Auth
• No third-party analytics or tracking services are used

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do NOT sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties.

The only third-party service we use is:

• Edit or delete any chat marker, note, reminder, or label through the extension interface
• Update your labels and categories as needed

Delete Your Data

• Individual items: Delete specific markers, notes, or reminders within the extension
• All data: Use the "Clear All Data" function in Settings to remove all stored information
• Account deletion: Contact us to permanently delete your account and all associated data

Export Your Data

• Use the "Export Data" feature in Settings to download all your data in JSON format
• This includes all markers, notes, reminders, and labels

6. Permissions Explained

ChatMarker requests the following Chrome extension permissions:

7. Data Retention

• Your data is retained as long as you use ChatMarker
• Data is automatically synced to the cloud when you're signed in
• You can delete all data at any time using the "Clear All Data" function
• If you uninstall the extension, local data is removed from your browser
• Cloud data remains until you explicitly delete it or request account deletion

8. Children's Privacy

ChatMarker is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of ChatMarker after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
